The country’s existing conference facilities and accommodation offer will also benefit from 30 refurbishment and expansion projects across the six-year period.

The developments will grow the country’s three-, four- and five-star hotel stock by nearly 3,000 rooms.

Switzerland Convention and Incentive Bureau manager Barbra Albrecht said: "After a weak year in 2009, business and conference tourism in Switzerland is recovering. The current number of renovation and development projects shows that investors have confidence in the future of business and conference tourism in Switzerland."

Switzerland’s new developments will include:

  • November 2010: new congress centre opening in Davos, offering a hall for 2,000 delegates, and six smaller meeting rooms
  • 2011: Zürich will see the opening of the 61-room B2 Boutique Hotel, the 284-room Renaissance Zürich Tower Hotel and the 159-room Ramada Hotel
  • 2013: Intercontinental Davos Resort & Spa will open with 210 rooms
