Virgin Atlantic, Costa Coffee and Chelsea Football Club are among bodies which have pledged their support for the campaign, which aims to target government and business leaders.
Visit Britain head of business visits and events Simon Mills said: "Britain for Events has been gathering momentum and support and we’re delighted with the senior level of our supporters this year, both within the industry and beyond. Sir Richard Branson’s endorsement gives us added gravitas as we look to promote our industry in front of the wider business community."
A series of simultaneous kick off events takes place today, including the ACC Liverpool on The Big Wheel of Liverpool, the ICC Birmingham and NEC with Malmaison Hotels and Marketing Birmingham at the Caravan and Motorhome Show, and at Chelsea FC representing both the club and corporate support from The Premier League.
Business Visits and Events Partnership will launch the Britain for Events market report tomorrow, to outline the significant role meetings and events play for UK business.
The report will form part of a House of Commons reception taking place on Wednesday during which more than 50 MPs gather to discuss the role of events.
On Thursday, the Meetings Industry Association (MIA) will be hosting a chairman’s lunch for the heads of industry trade associations, while on Friday MIA venues across the UK will be hosting local MPs as part of the Britain for Events Constituency Day.
