The event, which attracted up to 100 corporate event planners including Lloyds Banking Group and Herbert Smith, aimed to showcase the venue’s new fourth floor conference space.

The £250,000 sustainability-focused project was completed last month, and a further £70,000 will be spent on minor refurbishments by Christmas.

Sustainable elements included reupholstering rather than replacing furniture and using high efficiency lighting.

The refurbished space now includes six conference suites seating up to 50 delegates theatre-style. The suites’ partitioning can be removed to create two 170-capacity rooms.

The Barbican business development manager Samme Allen said the venue’s corporate event space is "almost fully booked for Christmas".

The venue is not offering themed packages this year, but will focus on tailored events and a ‘food mileage menu’ featuring items sourced within 50 miles of the Barbican.
