
HMV and Waterstones discussed business focus and Christmas sales with around 575 store managers and approximately 100 head office representatives at their annual conferences this week.
The two conferences – which were held at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo on Monday (4 October) – included separate business sessions before a joint gala evening.
This is the first year the two brands – which share a global marketing manager – have joined for their annual conference.
Manic Street Preachers were among bands to entertain delegates at the event, which kicked off with the HMV business conference and was followed by Waterstones’ conference.
A separate exhibition was held at the Novotel London West before the brands rejoined in the evening.
HMV head of press and PR Gennaro Castaldo said: "We want to bring together all elements of the business because there is a strategic underlying remit to demonstrate how the whole business is working together."
HMV previously had two conferences a year – one in spring and one pre-Christmas – but has now combined the events.
