Sellafield business focus for new Cumbrian conference space

Good Companions, a restaurant in Nethertown, Egremont has added a function room for training, meetings and conferences, touting Sellafield, the nearby nuclear power plant, as a potential business target.

The restaurant, which opened in January 2008, currently holds birthday parties, charity meetings and private parties.

"We’ve tried to make it a very Cumbrian venue with prints of Cumbrian scenes on the wall and we’re lucky to have views of Scafell Pike out of the windows," said Good Companions manager Pairin Singleton.

"We have a nuclear plant on our doorstep so we think there will be a requirement for a training venue. We’ve already hosted some training sessions for health professionals and carers because our disabled access is so good."

The function room features an overhead projector screen, flipchart, stationery and is temperature-controlled.
