Smyle's Bookingline Plc - Entrepreneurs Bootcamp 2009 at The O2 Arena event is one of six submissions for Visit London's Business Event of the Year award.

Overview: The Entrepreneurs Bootcamp came to London’s O2 arena, the largest indoor arena in the UK, and broke several records. The event was the first and largest of its kind (a seated conference over two successive days for that number of attendees) to be held at The O2 arena.

The 410m² screen was the largest indoor projection screen ever installed in the UK & the event also raised £702,000 for a very deserving cause – The Make a Wish Foundation. More than 1000 written testimonials and over 150 video testimonials were received from delighted Bootcamp attendees.

The tremendous success of the event in 2009 has ensured that Bootcamp will continue to be an annual fixture for Bookingline PLC.

Previously at Wembley Conference Centre, The Bournemouth International Centre and The Brighton Centre this was the first time The Entrepreneurs Bootcamp had taken place in the iconic Docklands venue, the largest indoor arena in the UK.

Past events had received between 2,500 -4,000 delegates and the 2009 objective was to sell 7000 per day. The clients also wanted to push the boundaries of what had come before in terms of venue and on-stage production. The main objective was to provide an amazing experience for attendees, all of which were budding entrepreneurs, but it was also to provide a unique stage set and presentation format at the vast 15,000-capacity venue.

Execution: Smyle was asked to manage all aspects of the September 2009 motivational speaker event. Smyle created the massive 34.5m wide by 11.9m high projection canvas lit up by six of the world’s brightest single-phase true HD projectors – ground breaking stuff.

Pre-event, Smyle employed its in-house Video & Design departments to create and manage on-screen graphical and video content. The design team also collated and formatted all the presenters’ content on-site to ensure it was ready for the show. On-site, Smyle’s video dept managed the 8 camera shoot including two jibs and 2 wireless steadicams mixed in the OB truck and then fed live to an on-site team who produced master DVDs ready for duplication immediately after the show. The result was a sell-out event which delivered great content and glowing reviews from attendee and speakers.

Impact on London Approximately 500 of the 7,800 attendees came from overseas, plus more than 5,000 were from outside London. Being a two day event many stayed at hotels within London, used public transport and local restaurants. The event not only delivered on its objectives for Bookingline PLC but also communicated a truly inspirational message to attendees from all over the world. It brought them to an iconic London venue and, once inside, treated them to a creative and motivational production.
