Amazon, Rolls Royce and The Economist are among corporate clients to have booked events with the firm, which was founded in September 2008 by former Searcy chief executive John Nugent.

Great Ormond Street Hospital and Visit Britain have also held events with the company, which has grown its turnover to more than £4m.

Green & Fortune provides in-house events, hospitality and catering for the Kings Place development in Kings Cross, London.

Nugent said: "Kings Place Events has really flourished against a backdrop of a declining market place. The development within that part of the business gives us huge optimism for the future."

In the last financial year Kings Place Events hosted almost 400 corporate events and saw its sales team double to four. It is now appointing a fifth member of the sales team.

Nugent is aiming to grow the business by further 30% over the next two years and is planning to identify other sites and venues for expansion in the future.

"We have invested heavily for the long term," he explained. We know we are taking business away from some serious competitors and we are moving very quickly towards profitability."

The Kings Place venue can accomodate 420 delegates in its main hall, and up to 1,000 for a party throughout its 10 event spaces.
