MCI UK plans tight control of costs over the coming year to continue growth that has seen it record a 41% increase in gross profit in 2009.
Gross profit increased to just over £3m from £2.14m in 2008, leaving MCI UK with £234,535 in profit after tax and expenses.
Meanwhile, turnover is up to £9.2m from £5.9m in 2008 - an increase of 56%. In 2008, turnover was down 58%.
Staff numbers are expected to increase from 59 in 2009 to more than 70 in 2010, and the firm has already secured £500,000 of business for 2011, according to annual accounts filed at Companies House.
C&IT reported last week that MCI had appointed Jamie Stinson to the newly created post of account manager in the Belfast office, and Sean Dillion to the new role of production manager. Former W&O Events account director Stephen Morton-Prior has taken up the post of account director, and Jason Ward, who previously worked for Rapier Group, has been appointed as senior production manager.
MCI deputy managing director Jenny Abbot told C&IT she was pleased with the results, with all budget streams budgeted to be profitable in 2010.
According to MCI, the growth has come from increased meeting and event numbers, as well as activity from professional congress organisers.
