Concorde Hotels & Resorts has strengthened its UK and Ireland sales office with the appointment of Manchester-based account director, William Rowntree.

In this newly created role Rowntree will be responsible for heading up MICE sales for Concorde’s key properties in Europe, North Africa, Asia, the USA and Caribbean. He will report into Mark Gorgon, regional director of sales UK & Ireland.

Rowntree’s experience in hospitality sales and marketing spans more than 15 years and he has gained experience working at hotels including The Royal Garden Hotel, The Chester Grosvenor, Marriott Hanbury Manor, along with The Grove and Alexander Hotels.

His role prior to joining Concorde was as director of sales and marketing for the De Vere Carden Park in Cheshire.

Gorgon said: "This is a very positive move for Concorde Hotels & Resorts as it is important for us to increase awareness and boost our share of the MICE market from clients based in the Midlands, the North and in Scotland and Ireland."
