Delegates at Summer Eventia were told that online video currently accounted for a third of all web traffic, but will represent 90% by 2013 according to estimates by Cisco.
Speaking about the Google-owned YouTube, Barke stated: "There are over 350,000 impressions for the words 'event' and 'marketing' on YouTube each month so there are a lot of opportunities for event professionals to use YouTube.
"User consumption of video content is changing. In five years time, more people will be watching television via online streams."
The audience heard that the shift in consumer behaviour would impact delegate content requests.
Nike, T-Mobile and Vodafone were listed as key brands driving their marketing campaigns through online video content.
