Barclays deputy head of events Richard Parker is set to join Zibrant on 18 July. Parker's move follows head of events Sarah Wright's announcement on Friday (2 July) that she is also leaving the firm.

Zibrant is to launch a new Paris office on 18 July, and Parker will lead implementation of the office and its facilities. In addition, he will be responsible for "streamlining" Zibrant's delegate management systems, managing director Chris Parnham told C&IT.

"Richard Parker was at RAND before we acquired it, so I am really excited to have him back to help us with two key projects," said Parnham. "He is going to do an overview of all the systems we use to see if there can be a more streamlined approach. The prime driver is not money-saving, but a better and faster client experience."

Parker will be based in Paris, but will also use Zibrant's Canterbury office, where he was in discussions with Zibrant's head of operations Emma Bason on Friday.

Sarah Wright has also worked closely with Parnham in the past, having helped set up the firm's first events division Illico, which later became Zibrant. She then moved onto Barclays - one of Zibrant's largest clients.

Parker joined Barclays in November 2008, from Pfizer.

"It is a nice 360 degree story," added Parnham.
