Association conferences were also a major factor in helping the ECB achieve £4.6m of confirmed business in June.
ECB chief executive Sue Stuart told C&IT the figures were up slightly - around 2% - on the same period last year."In the past month we have worked hard to help confirm 16 new events that will be hosted by Edinburgh," she said "They will deliver £4.6m of economic value bringing our total value of events confirmed during the first quarter of this year to £20.8m."
She added: "Even in these still uncertain economic times of cutbacks and austerity Edinburgh is still proving to be a high quality, value for money location that is popular with event organisers. In terms of corporate business there is a slight upturn."
