Cearns remit will be to bring in new business and act as a team mentor and recruitment specialist.

"I’m excited to be joining Conferences Group – a dynamic, forward thinking company that is really going places. I’m looking forward to the challenge and I’m sure that we will all learn a lot from each other," said Cearns.

Cearns also previously worked as conferences and meetings operations manager at BSI.

The Manchester-based venue-finding agency has also hired Aimee Richardson as a corporate sales executive.

Richardson’s remit will be to build Conferences Group’s contacts and manage key accounts.

Conferences Group managing director Simon Thompson said: "With Jan’s wealth of industry experience there’s little she doesn’t know, so she’ll be an invaluable fountain of knowledge for the whole team, especially as we grow. Aimee is an extremely strong sales professional and her skills will be used to increase our client base."
