Environmental initiatives at Venues Event Management, which is based on an organic milk farm in Swindon, include printing on recycled paper and use of a green fleet of company cars.
Venues Event Management quality and standards manager Julie Evans will spearhead the efforts to gain BS8901 accreditation, which requires organisations to identify and understand the effects their activities have on the environment, society and economy, and put measures in place to minimise the negative effects.
More and more clients are asking for sustainable solutions for their events and we want to be ahead of the game, Evans said. We already have a database of eco-friendly venues both in the UK and worldwide and offer an option to make any clients’ event carbon neutral. Achieving this accreditation will enable myself and the teams to advise clients on the most sustainable way to deliver an event.
Outlook Creative Group
The Outlook Creative Group is also working towards achieving BS8901 accreditation in 2010.
Outlook Creative Group assistant producer Ellie Brown, who will oversee the project, said: It is an exciting time for us at Outlook, as we streamline and define our working practices to present opportunities for more efficient planning and encourage reducing, recycling and even reusing where possible.
The agency will launch its sustainable practices at a client event at the end of June.
