The hotel will offer 46 rooms with views of Hyde Park, a screening room, bar and restaurant, and will boast a more contemporary décor than nearby sister hotel The Dorchester.

Akdag was previously director of business development and marketing at Jumeirah's Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai for three years.

She takes up the new role on 28 June, and will report to the Dorchester general manager and regional director UK Roland Fasel.

Fasel said: "With more than a decade's experience serving the world's most elite markets, Marie-Laure is perfectly positioned to understand the high calibre of guest that will wish to stay at 45 Park Lane."
