The delegates generated 214,000 overnight stays in Bournemouth.

Meet Bournemouth and BIC/Pavilion head of conferences, exhibitions and events Clive Tyers said: "The results for the year are fantastic and with enquiries for conferences, exhibitions, meetings and seminars in the destination continuing to be buoyant into 2011 and beyond, we are already working closely with local hotels and venues to uphold this trend and secure future business."

Bournemouth leisure and cultural trust BH Live chief executive Peter Gunn said: "It's encouraging that, despite the recession, we can report optimistic figures, which demonstrate the resilience of the business tourism industry in Bournemouth."
