An 80-room Malmaison opened in late 2008, the popularity of which has led to plans for a sister brand Hotel du Vin property, while adjacent to the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre (AECC), an as-yet-unnamed four-star, 200-room hotel will open in 2011. Other soon-to-be-finished properties include a 184-room Rezidor Park Inn and a 107-bed Ibis. In addition, Aberdeen Airport will welcome a 181-room Courtyard by Marriott late next year. Back in town, the five-star Marcliffe Hotel has announced £50m plans for 200 extra rooms and a 400-capacity conference centre, while Norwood Hall Hotel has opened a £3.5m conference centre. Elsewhere in Aberdeenshire, work is under way on the £1bn Trump International Golf Links (to include a 450-room, five-star property) and plans have been approved for a £115m golf resort in Blairs. Finally, the University of Aberdeen has a new £57m library, a striking venue suitable for events.
