LISBON

HOTELS

The 518-room Corinthia Hotel recently added to its offer with a 3,000m2 spa with 13 treatment rooms. For luxury lovers, the sumptuous 109-room Lapa Palace is set on a hill overlooking town, while the Altis Belem Hotel & Spa is a new design-led five-star.

VENUES

The Atlantic Pavilion, set on the banks of the Tagus, has 11 smaller meeting rooms, a 100-seat auditorium, and two main halls with capacity for 12,500. The Oriente Museum has five meeting rooms and an auditorium with capacity for 200 people.

RESTAURANTS

DMC Portugal Travel Team recommends Kais and Largo. Kais, set in an old warehouse, hosts groups of up to 400. The decor at Largo is by Miguel Cancio Martins, known for Paris' Buddha Bar, and it has private dining facilities for groups of 35.

INCENTIVES

Activities for larger groups include cruises along the Tagus, private-hire trams and wine-tasting. Meanwhile, golfers have a host of options to choose from - there are two courses in the city, while nearby Estoril and Sintra offer seven courses to choose from.

PORTO

HOTELS

New additions in Porto include The Yeatman, which opens in July with 70 rooms and 12 suites, each sponsored by a Portuguese wine brand. The 109-room Intercontinental Porto Palacio das Cardosas will open by the end of the year.

VENUES

Groups can meet in the Alfandega Congress Centre, which has seven spaces for 80 to 300 delegates and the Archive Hall for 1,200. The Palacio da Bolsa - the former stock exchange - is another gem and includes the mosaic-tiled Hall of Nations for up to 800.

RESTAURANTS

Restaurant Kool at the modern Casa da Musica serves a mostly Italian menu, while chef Rui Paula, owner of the acclaimed DOC in the Douro Valley, recently opened a restaurant in Porto. Foz Velha, which can cater for groups of 65, is also recommended.

INCENTIVES

Porto is the home of Port wine, and tastings, tours, team-building activities and dinners are on offer at Calem, Taylor's, Graham's and all of the main Port cellars. Groups can also cruise on the Douro River or head up into the valley to visit the vineyards.
