Visit Britain and Brazilian national tourism organisation Embratur have signed a partnership to increase tourism between the countries around the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The agreement was signed in Rio de Janeiro during an Olympic tourism summit.
Potential areas for collaboration include joint lobbying for increased air capacity between the UK and Brazil, introductions to key contacts, promotional swaps and reciprocal support in the lead-up to the 2012 and 2016 games.
Visit Britain head of business visits and events Simon Mills said "The business events industry will be the largest beneficiary of the London 2012 Olympics, with the improvement of the infrastructure alone being hugely beneficial. Pre-game gains to the tune of £321m will be mostly generated by increased business trips from travelers coming into London."
