Deutsche Bank staff caught in Mumbai terrorist attack are accounted for

Deutsche Bank staff caught in the Mumbai terrorist attack have escaped unharmed.

The bank's Asia-Pacific region managing director, head of communications, Michael West told C&IT: "All of Deutsche Bank's local and visiting international staff are safe and accounted for."

He declined to comment further.

Confirmation of the delegates' safety follows reports last week that a group of Deutsche Bank executives from Europe were trapped in the Taj Palace and Tower, Mumbai.

The hotel could not be reached for comment on the Deutche Bank group but a statement on its website said:

"In the early hours of 1 December, the security authorities handed control of The Taj Mahal Palace and Tower back to the Taj group. However, certain parts of the property are still inaccessible, either due to the continuing security investigations or for safety reasons.

"The building has been placed under as tight a seal as possible until a full risk assessment has been completed.

"Access to the hotel buildings is only being given to a limited number of specialist personnel. This is due to the need to remove all potential sources of risk arising from the attack.

"The assessment team will be carrying out their initial survey of the property during the early afternoon of 1 December."
