Kuoni moves into German event market
, 19 December 2007
Kuoni has entered the German event market by acquiring Berlin-based agency/DMC Conference & Touring (C&T) for an undisclosed sum. The takeover agreement has been signed and the transaction is expected to be operational by the first week of 2008. C&T was founded in 1989 and as well as its Berlin headquarters, also has branches in Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Cologne. It employs 54 staff and has said it expects to post sales of £10.3m for 2007. All staff are being kept on and former owner Peter Antoni remains as managing director, reporting to Kuoni’s Europe and USA sales sector head Miroslav Bauer. “This acquisition fits our strategy perfectly – our network of destination agencies becomes even more tightly knit,” said Kuoni destination management chief executive Rolf Schafroth. “It also addresses the growing demand for meeting, incentive, conference, event and congress services in Germany, which is Europe’s most important events location.” Kuoni is said to be considering further acquisitions as it looks to expand it C&I offering.
