Jack Morton to open Shanghai office
, 31 January 2007
Jack Morton Worldwide is to open an office in Shanghai this month, taking its total to two following the launch of its Beijing set-up last February. “For our Shanghai office we’ll use more or less the same model as our Beijing operation,” said Jack Morton Worldwide president (international) Lois Jacobs. Jacobs added that it was always the intention to open in both cities and that Beijing took precedence due to its staging of the Olympics next year. “I believe that Shanghai will eventually become like Hong Kong – fast moving, very consumer oriented, and it will attract companies of this same nature. Beijing, meanwhile, will still be where the real power and decision making is,” she added. Much of Jack Morton’s focus in China so far has been on getting European management representatives from the likes of IBM, Phillips and Pricewaterhousecoopers together with their Chinese counterparts. The agency’s Beijing office opened with six staff last year and now has 15.
