A third of corporates anticipate an increase in their business travel spend this year, says a report by the Institute of Travel & Meetings UK and Ireland (ITM).
The ITM's report, Industry Observer, based on buyer views, found that 32% of corporates predicted growth in expenditure in 2010, while 45% predicted flat spending, and 23% anticipated a reduction.
Industry Observer also said that cost is the main focus for 85% of buyers this year.
ITM chairman Jamie Hindhaugh, who is the BBC's head of sourcing, said there was "cautious optimism" among buyers about 2010.
"2009 was a year of pain for suppliers but technology appears to have done well due to a focus on reduced cost as buyers sought to tighten controls," said Hindhaugh.
