Corporate events at House of Commons are revealed

MPs who booked banqueting facilities at the House of Commons on behalf of corporate guests have been named in official records published yesterday.
The list of events that have taken place at the Commons since April 2004 was made available under the freedom of information legislation.
According to a report in The Times, communities secretary John Denham held a breakfast for AXA in 2006 and former health secretary Patricia Hewitt sponsored a dinner for BT, of which she is a non-executive director, last February.
Rules for MPs booking banqueting rooms were revised in March 2007 following a complaint that they were being used by Conservative MPs for fundraising events, the report added.
