Head of events Victoria Kerridge reveals the impact of the recession

Incisive Media's corporate hospitality event programme has been "decimated" by the recession, says its head of events, Victoria Kerridge.

Speaking at the Grass Roots Meetings Management Forum on Friday, Incisive Media head of events Victoria Kerridge said the international media company hosted about 600 events annually, which generated 35% of its revenue.

However, Kerridge said the company's corporate hospitality event programme had been decimated because it focused on delegates from the financial services sector: "I don't know that they are ever going to come back."

"We are now more focused on peer networking events than networking with people who are trying to sell delegates something," she said.

Incisive Media's training events had been hit early in the recession but Kerridge was hopeful that they would return.

She said it was difficult to get delegates to afford the time and money to attend events but Incisive Media was fighting this by focusing on strong event content to attract them.
