Twitter event launches online directory at Sea Life London Aquarium

The first networking event for event industry professionals using Twitter attracted 100 attendees.

TweetUp was held at the newly opened Sea Life London Aquarium on 14 April and hosted by events consultant Mike Fletcher and Merlin Events head of marketing Peter Kerwood.

The event also saw the launch of an online directory for the micro-blogging site, www.eventweeps.com, designed to help event industry professionals using Twitter to find each other.

Fletcher said: "It was interesting to talk with fellow event industry twitterers and hear the stories of how Twitter has benefited their business and network connections."

Kerwood added: "I was delighted with the response to the first TweetUp and that the inaugural event, the day after a long bank holiday weekend, attracted so many event professionals.  I think it demonstrates the power of Twitter as a highly effective and inexpensive method of networking."
