Kempinski Hotels has appointed Gianni van Daalen to head up its European property portfolio.

As president, Europe, van Daalen takes responsibility for the operational and financial performance of Kempinski's 29 European hotels and the development of 17 other property projects in Europe.

Van Daalen has worked for Kempinski for 12 years, most recently as vice president Eastern Europe and Russia.

He has also worked for Hilton, Steigenberger and the Nassauer Hof during his 40 years in the industry.

Kempinski has also appointed Michael Henssler, who has worked for the group for a decade, as regional director for Western Europe and Morocco.
