World Travel Market: record visitor attendance

World Travel Market (WTM) attracted a record 50,246 visitors and exhibitors.

The total number of visitors was up 4% on last year, according to unaudited figures.

WTM was held at Excel London between 10 and 13 November and trade visitors were up from 23,722 last year, to 26,498.

The show attracted almost 100 new exhibitors, including 20 from the UK and Ireland.

WTM chairwoman Fiona Jeffery said the growth exceeded expectations given the difficult economic conditions.

"It demonstrated that in tough times it is absolutely necessary for management to come together to conduct business and make new contacts, as well as discuss, debate and address the challenges that lie ahead," she said.
