Guoman Hotels is funding a £16.3m refurbishment of London's Royal Horseguards hotel.

The 18th-century, Grade I listed property, situated in Whitehall Court, is set to become part of the Guoman Hotel portfolio early next year.

Among the planned upgrade work is refurbishment of the hotel's 280 rooms, and the addition of a conservatory restaurant, which will offer a private dining area with Thames views. A Guoman Club Lounge will also be added.

More than £1m will be invested in refurbishing the meetings space at One Whitehall Place, which is an event venue connected to The Royal Horseguards.

Guoman Hotels is planning a programme of fam trips to the property next year to boost awareness among the C&I industry.
