The news follows an insolvency meeting with creditors last week (12 April) to decide Bluehat’s future.

Shepley told C&IT: "As a former Director and original founder of Bluehat UK Ltd I am very disappointed that the company has gone into liquidation.

"When I resigned as a director seven months ago I did so because I disagreed with the other shareholders. I am owed a considerable amount of money that I personally invested in the business."

Shepley spoke with C&IT exclusively last week ahead of the company's insolvency meeting explaining that he was saddened by the demise of the agency and that "they [Bluehat] let some good, experienced senior people go because they didn’t try hard enough to keep them."

Team building company Catalyst Global, a former partner of Bluehat, said it was disappointed by the agency's liquidation and has terminated its contract with the company.

BlueHat UK Ltd has been the exclusive distributor of Catalyst Global team building products in the UK since 2011, but Catalyst said it is now seeking a new partner and that any former directors of the Bluehat will not be offered a license to distribute Catalyst Global products in the UK.

Commenting on the liquidation, Mark Davenport, head of business development at Catalyst Global said: "We are surprised by the news of Bluehat UK Ltd's liquidation especially considering that sales of Catalyst Global team building products have been very strong in the UK over the past five years. During its time with us, Bluehat was consistently one of the top five performers in the network.

"Its disappointing news. We developed some great relationships over the years with the staff on the ground at Bluehat who were a skilled and knowledgeable team."

In March, Bluehat awarded an apprenticeship to event management student Emma Rickwood through The Eventice competition, which the agency ran in partnership with ESP Recruitment. With Bluehat UK Ltd liquidated it is unclear whether Rickwood will remain at the agency. However, director of ESP Recruitment Liz Sinclair told C&IT that she did not believe Bluehat recruited Rickwood with the knowledge that its future was in doubt. "We have had a fantastic relationship with Bluehat for seven years and the agency has provided their services free of charge.

"It would not have done anything underhand if it had known what the outcome was and they made its recent offer of an apprenticeship in good faith. Bluehat has taken on five apprentices in three years, offering a fantastic opportunity for graduates with no experience their first steps in the industry."
