During 2016, £2.2million was invested into the facilities at the Barbican to strengthen its position as Europe’s largest combined conference and arts venue. A total of £644,000 has been spent on redesigning and refurbishing the Frobisher Suite and Level 4 of the venue.

Jackie Boughton, head of business events at the Barbican, said: "This significant investment in the facilities at the Barbican has increased the number of event enquiries over the last 6 months, especially in the international market." Jackie went on to say; "Despite the uncertainty of the current climate, the level of enquiries that we have had thus far in 2017, promises another busy and exciting year ahead. Whilst we appreciate that enquiries don’t always mean confirmed business, we are cautiously optimistic about the coming year, but and are conscious that we need to continue to be proactive in order to maintain market share."
