Buyers from agencies including American Express UK, BI Worldwide, The Black Tomato Agency, Conference Contacts, drp, Five Hats International, Global Event Services, Imagination, Travel Options and Yellow Fish Event Management are being hosted by Tourism Australia, Adelaide Convention Bureau, Etihad Airways and Virgin Australia.
Two groups left the UK on 4 December, flying with Etihad Airways from London Heathrow to Sydney and from Manchester Airport to Melbourne via Abu Dhabi, before taking connecting flights with Virgin Australia to Adelaide in South Australia.
On arrival (6 December), the group enjoyed an afternoon at the seaside resort of Glenelg, before heading for dinner at rooftop bar and restaurant 2KW. The following day (7 December), Dreamtime 2015 opened at Adelaide Convention Centre, with the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains of South Australia providing a musical welcome, then opening remarks from Tourism Australia and Virgin Australia.
The Australian business events industry then hosted dedicated meetings with buyers, with business sessions designed to represent the Australian landscape. Theming featured bespoke water-colour graphics aimed at evoking the vastness and diversity of the Australian continent.
The day concluded with the Dreamtime welcome event hosted at Penfolds Magill Estate, with guests experiencing wine tastings and a tour of the cellars, followed by drinks and dinner at the Estate.
The group will enjoy an Adelaide showcase today (8 December), visiting Port Willunga beach, McLaren Vale and the Wirra Wirra winery, with lunch at The Star of Greece and dinner at the National Wine Centre of Australia.
The group will depart Adelaide on 9 December and travel to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef for a three-day visit of the region.
