Event planners from Zibrant, American Express, Eventful, Wendy Welsh Events, The Fixer and Team Umbrella were hosted by Aegean Airlines, Starwood Hotels, DMC Event Makers and Pearl Representation last week (7-11 October), to explore city and coastal C&I options in Greece. The group visited a range of hotels and venues in the capital Athens and the Costa Navarino on the Peloponnese.
The group arrived on Wednesday night and checked into the Hotel Grand Bretagne, in a prime location overlooking Syntagma Square, before enjoying dinner and some stunning night views of the Acropolis at the hotel's eighth floor rooftop bar.
The following day, the group carried out site inspections at the Hotel Grand Bretagne and its adjacent Starwood property, the King George Hotel, before visting the Acropolis, enjoying an alternative and interactive tour with 3D models of the historic site recreated on iPads.
After lunch with views of the Acropolis at Dionysos restaurant, the group took part in a treasure hunt in the old city of Athens, in the Plaka area. In the evening, drinks were enjoyed at the Vorres Museum, as well as a tour of the venue's collection of folk and contemporary art before dinner by the sea at the Island Private House on the Athenian Riviera, with entertainment including traditional Greek dancing.
On Friday (9 October), the group visited Vouliagmeni on the Riviera, with site inspections at the Westin Athens Astir Palace Beach Resort and the Arion Resort & Spa.
The group enjoyed a stop at the Corinth Canal en route to the Costa Navarino in Messinia, southwest Peloponnese, where they stayed a further two nights at the Westin Resort. The group also visited the neighbouring property, the Romanos Resort, enjoyed a cruise around Navarino Bay and a visit to the town of Pylos. On the last evening, event planners dined in the traditional fishing village of Marathos before heading to Kalamata the following day for the flight back to London.
