Lisbon in bid to host web summit

Lisbon is in the final stages of a bid to host the 2016 edition of Web Summit, a European technology, entrepreneurship and innovation conference that is expected to attract up to 20,000 participants.

According to the Lisbon Convention Bureau, the Portuguese capital presents a very solid case, due to its strong tourist positioning, its excellent quality infrastructure and services on offer and the growing international relevance of its startup "ecosystem".

Lisbon’s application has been developed by Turismo de Portugal (TdP), Associação Turismo de Lisboa (ATL) and AICEP and had the institutional support of the Portuguese Government and Lisboa Municipality.

The result of the bid will be revealed this month.
