On Monday (21 September), more than 60 event planners gathered for the inaugural Creative Edge summit, hosted by C&IT and sister title, Event Magazine. Held at The Grand Hotel in Brighton, the event opened with a speech from Will Butler Adams from Brompton Bicycles on the importance of branding in events.
Over the course of the one-day event, delegates had the opportunity to meet with a range of suppliers in one-to-one meetings, from venues and destinations to tech companies and caterers. The evening was capped off with a night of drinks, dinner, entertainment and networking.

More than 300 industry professionals gathered at The O2 on Tuesday (22 September) for the NY-LON Lounge Bar's official launch party. The evening entertainment included live music from hip-hop DJ, Grandmaster Flash, alongside new talent and neo-soul artist, Lion Babe. A selection of signature cocktails were served throughout the evening and canapés included mac & cheese, salted cod and Brooklyn crab salad, offering guests a taste of NY-LON’s British and American menu.
Earlier in the week, Holiday Inn London - Stratford City hosted a showcase night to launch its new Casino Royale Christmas Party Nights for the festive season. Event organisers were greeted with a ‘shaken not stirred’ sparkling reception to help get them into the mood for Bond season whilst sampling canapés from the new Christmas menu.
Also on Monday, Beaumont Estate hosted an interactive preview of the newest teambuilding addition to their event roster; the ‘Bear Grylls Survival Academy’ experience. The event brought corporate clients including representatives from Mattel, together with the new members of the Beaumont Estate events team. Teams learned lifesaving rope and knot techniques and competed in a range of outdoor challenges.
Also this week, Hotel Indigo York celebrated its official opening with a thank you lunch for those who helped create the new 101-room hotel. Guests were treated to a champagne reception and meatball canapes served by The Yorkshire Meatball Co and Team GB Paraclimber Sianagh Gallagher made a special appearance.
Last Friday evening (18 September) the C&IT team and other event professionals descended on Stamford Bridge’s Under the Bridge venue, to watch the opening match of the Rugby World Cup.
