Expected to open in 2018, the new property will be managed by Virgin Hotels and developed by Dunhill Partners, Vinculum Partners and The Crosland Group. The first Virgin Hotels property opened in Chicago in January, with Nashville and New York set to open next.

Virgin Hotels CEO, Raul Leal, said the company was pleased to be part of Dallas’ Design District expansion. "With chic stores, eclectic galleries and upscale restaurants, we expect Virgin Hotels Dallas to move into the neighbourhood seamlessly, as its aesthetic and offerings will attract the growing local creative class and business travellers," he added.

The hotel plans follow Branson’s announcement that the new Virgin Cruises operation will launch from Miami in 2020
