The previously independent hotel has undergone a £2.6m renovation, including an on-site conference centre with more than 9,000sqm of meeting space, a steak house and a 24-hour fitness centre.

Brian McGuinness, senior vice president of specialty select brands for Starwood, said it was the second Four Points hotel to open in the region, representing the brand’s rapid growth across Canada.

He added that Four Points is the leading Starwood brand in the country and he expects to open the 30th property by the end of the summer. Worldwide there were 50 new Four Points hotel deals signed in 2014, with 25 openings planned for this year.
