The castle’s former horse-driven threshing mill has been transformed into a bespoke event space following substantial investment. It is located 15 miles from Aberdeen city centre and offers free parking for delegates.
The venue has the capacity for up to 90 theatre style, 120 for dinner and 150 for receptions. It has modern business facilities incorporated throughout, including wi-fi and the latest A/V and lighting technology.
Bespoke teambuilding packages are available through a partnership with Team Challenge, while Go Ape, a high-wire treetop adventure course, is set in the Castle grounds.
Rebecca Sloan, national hospitality manager for the National Trust for Scotland, said: "Such a modern facility is rare in heritage properties and we are incredibly proud to see our new event space open for business. The addition of The Horsemill combines the romance and myth of Crathes Castle with modern facilities and a flexible space. Crathes has a fascinating history, with strong ties to Robert the Bruce, and this new offering brings the venue right up to date with all of the services that delegates expect from a contemporary event space.
"For evening events, guests can enjoy a tour of the Castle, with the option for a drinks reception within the Great Hall before being piped up to The Horsemill for dinner and entertainment. It’s the perfect mix of the old and the new, and we think people are going to love it."
