On Saturday (28 February) Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville’s Hotel Football opened adjacent to Old Trafford stadium in Manchester. C&IT was part of the first group of media to stay at the 133-room, four-star property. The 'football' aesthetic was fairly understated, with subtle touches throughout the interior, and  the stars' own influences prevalent.

Also taking place at the weekend  (27-28 February) was the ‘For Your Eyes Only’ Showcase at Lainston House hotel in Winchester. The Bond-themed event saw 50 event professionals get private access to the five-star country house hotel, which had been transformed to feel like a top-secret MI5 Training School by agency Crescendo.

Guests lunched at The Avenue AA Rosette restaurant before an afternoon of teambuilding activities. The evening saw a ‘black tie and diamond’ themed gala dinner, before guests were invited to view an outdoor cinema screen showing a montage of classic Bond movies. Firebird Events also created a dedicated Casino Royale.

This week also saw the Meeting Industry Association (MIA) 25th Anniversary Book Tour arrive at the Belfast Waterfront Conference and Exhibition Centre, which is undergoing an extension. The MIA 25th Anniversary Book embarked on a tour of the construction site, and spent the week visiting other meetings venues including Belfast City Hall, the Ulster Hall, Crumlin Road Gaol and Stormont.
