Moscow: museum highlights

C&IT looks at three museums in Moscow that can be used for events.

State Darwin Museum: This is the largest natural science museum in Russia, with a total area of 20,000sqm, offering a range of spaces for events. The basement floor can host 200 for receptions while the cinema caters for 200 theatre-style. For events, the venue can offer synchronisation of light and video projections with audio streams, creating an immersive effect.

Winzavod Contemporary Art Centre: Opened in 2007, the Centre is a complex of ancient workshops, tasting laboratories and wine cellars. The different areas of the centre highlight the beauty of industrial architecture in Moscow. Inside there are exhibition halls, art and photo galleries, concept stores and showrooms. It is located near to the Garden Ring, seven minutes’ walk from the Kurskaya metro station and the lecture hall caters for 500 theatre-style or 120 in classroom seating.

Central House of Writers: A place of poetry and books, the building’s facades overlook Povarskaya and Bolshaya Nikitskaya Streets. The Great Hall is available for conferences and caters for 400 theatre-style and events can also take place at the CHW Club-Restaurant nearby.
