Dubai International is world's top international airport

Dubai International has seen growth in international passengers, making it the world's top international airport.

This is according to figures in its year-end traffic report released last month, which show full year passenger numbers totalled 70,475,636, up 6.1 per cent from the 66,431,533 recorded in 2013.

HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Airport, said the figures show Dubai's attractiveness as a centre for trade, commerce and tourism and reflected the rapid expansion of Emirates and Flydubai.

"The shared goal is to make Dubai a global centre of aviation and we are nearing that goal thanks to an open skies policy and a friendly business environment," he said.

The airport also released its projections for 2015 traffic at Dubai International which forecast 79 million passengers.

Emirates has launched a second daily A380 service from Manchester International to Dubai International Airport, with an increased number of business class seats. The service began this month (February).
