The 202-bedroom Shangri-La Hotel, At the Shard, which occupies the 34th to 52nd floors of Renzo Piano’s landmark building in London, was due to open in summer 2013, but media reports last month suggested it was unlikely to open fully until next year because of delays with the fit-out.

Last month, the hotel, which is Shangri-La’s first hotel in the UK, confirmed it had ended its relationship with its contractor for the fit-out and appointed another to complete the work.

Today, Fiona Stilborn, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing, said: "We will know more in the next couple of weeks as regards an opening date." She declined to comment further.
