South African Tourism appoints digital marketing specialist

South African (SA) Tourism will be investing in digital channels to increase brand awareness and drive tourist arrivals to the country.

It recently appointed Janine Hutton, a digital marketing specialist, to the position of chief marketing officer for SA Tourism.

Hutton, who takes up the role next month, is the co-founder and owner of digital strategy and marketing company Social Act and was previously a managing director at agency Ogilvy Interactive. In her role, Hutton will be responsible for leading South Africa Tourism's marketing efforts and increasing its number of target markets around the globe, with an emphasis on using digital channels.

"In the changing marketing environment and business world, I believe the best way to achieve success is with an integrated marketing approach, including all aspects of relevant digital channels, to positively influence lead generation, increase brand awareness and drive tourist arrivals to our country," she said.

She takes over from Roshene Singh, who is retiring after working at the tourism organisation for nearly a decade.
