The past presidents of the International Special Events Society (ISES) and Meeting Professional International (MPI), Zanine Adams and Anthony Hyde, have been appointed to co-chair the associations' joint committee.
The first executive meeting was held this month for the new committee, which is made up of the presidential teams of both associations.
It was created in January to explore membership benefits across both associations. They will now jointly promote activities and offer both memberships preferential rates.
ISES president Richard Foulkes said: "This initiative will bring together two specific trade associations that can learn from each other, demonstrate economies of scale and work harder for their membership."
MPI president Fiona Pelham said: "Together we can share best practice and provide richer education and opportunities to connect."
