Industry associations join South African Event Greening Forum

The South African events industry has taken a significant step towards sustainability with seven key associations pledging their support as founding members of the Event Greening Forum (EGF).

The EGF aims to create minimum standards for green compliance in the MICE and events industries and raises awareness through presentations and training associations.

It is the brainchild of Justin Hawes, managing director of Scan Display, and Grace Stead, sustainability strategist and a founding member of the company icologie, out of their concern over the lack of cohesive greening efforts within the events industry.

The EFG’s seven founding member associations are: the Exhibitions & Events Association of South Africa (EXSA); the Southern African Tourism Services Association (SATSA); the Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI); the Certified Meeting Professional Network South Africa (CMP Network SA); the South African Roadies Association; Technical Production Services Association (TPSA); and the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA).
