British-based Guoman Hotels Group has begun its Asian expansion with the opening of the Guoman Hotel Shanghai, which has 442 rooms.
The hotel chain, which operates two brands- the Guoman Hotels deluxe collection and Thistle Hotels, plans to open between 40 and 50 sites over the next five years.
The Guoman Hotel Shanghai has a British theme. A fleet of black London Taxi Cabs are available to transport guests to and from the airport and to appointments.
A ‘British-style’ concierge butler service and "GB", a British-themed restaurant and bar will also feature.
Guoman Hotels Group COO International Mr. Sanjay Nijhawan said: "British tradition and style is admired the world over, and nowhere more than here in Asia, and we hope to capitalize on this as we roll out our luxury hotels across the region."
The Guoman Hotel Shanghai will be followed in 2011 by Guoman Hotel Beijing.
