Moscow has topped Hogg Robinson Group's (HRG) top ten most expensive cities for UK business travellers list.

HRG said its annual hotel survey, released today, found that while average room rates fell in local currency terms throughout the world in 2009, UK corporate travellers were stung due to the weakening British pound.

HRG's top ten most expensive cities ranked by British currency are:

1 Moscow - 2009 average room rate £266.56, down 5% (local currency) on 2008

2 Abu Dhabi - 2009 average room rate £233.35, down 1% on 2008

3 New York - 2009 average room rate £203.70, down 23% on 2008

4 Paris - 2009 average room rate £201.07, down 11% on 2008

5 Manama - 2009 average room rate £189.36, down 6% on 2008

6 Milan - 2009 average room rate £185.75, down 15% on 2008

7 Geneva - 2009 average room rate £185.19, down 12% on 2008
